Kain

History: It may not be completely obvious in Memories, but Kain is the main character. He became the leader of a special operations group when he was young through hard work, ambition, and just being an all around badass.  He is a powerful Black Mage, but doesn’t realize how strong he really is. To strangers he can come across as a little bit gruff, but once you get to know him he’s quite nice. Due to his overwhelming leadership abilities, he tries to keep a straight face and get the job done. However, when Vincent is with him, they tend to get into trouble. His group was responsible for discovering Azriel’s plans for world domination (kind of lame, I know, but bare with me). They managed to defeat him, but not completely.

Role: The almighty leader. During the war, he was considered to be one of the most powerful warriors on the field. He managed to stay modest under these circumstances, but it made him a bit overconfident. If someone was in danger, he would rush right into battle without a second thought. Despite is near suicidal shows of bravery, he refuses to put anyone else at risk. The rest of the group has been known to knock him out to complete missions.

Magic: Kain is a black mage (also known as an elemental mage), and a damn good one. He has the ability to use elemental forces, i.e. water, fire, etc. He uses the runes on his swords to cast these spells. He doesn’t necessarily need the sword for the casting, but it’s much easier and requires less energy. In the past he knew alternative spell casting techniques that were just as good as the runes, but he has forgotten them along with his past.

Weapons: Unlike most black mages, he is just as good with a weapon as he is with a spell. He is best when equipped with his double broadsword, but he does have a backup. Since he can only cast elemental spells, he carries a staff equipped with Atma Spheres which allow him to cast alternative spells i.e. Cure, Confusion, etc. He can use the staff as a weapon, and usually does against weak opponents.

What’s Next: With the apparent defeat of Azriel (again, damnit), he and Nanesse go back to looking for the rest of the group.
